Why is assessing downtown’s performance so important?

(Boonton, NJ, July 6, 2006) — The problem with measuring downtown’s performance is that it’s hard to get anybody to do it.

In the June 15 issue of Downtown Idea Exchange newsletter, Doyle Hyett, principal of HyettPalma, explains that each downtown must sell its case as a worthy investment amid needs for parks, schools, hospitals, roads, and everything else.

Taking the time to document what downtown is doing and showing the return, he says, is key to making that argument.
