Marketing Downtown Festivals and Events via Facebook

The February issue of Downtown Promotion Reporter newsletter features six steps to increasing event attendance with Facebook.

(Boonton, NJ, February 15, 2012) — If Facebook were a country, with more than 800 million active users, it would be one of the five largest nations on the planet. That\'s a lot of potential event participants, new residents and downtown shoppers for those who know how to reach them.

The February issue of Downtown Promotion Reporter includes six steps to successfully market events on Facebook. The first step, of course, is to create an event page.

Each Facebook account has a built-in "Events" feature. Click on the "Events" button at the left side of the page and enter event information. Make the Facebook event page as complete and interesting as possible. Include photos of past events, a featured entertainer or activity, the venue or some other subject representative of the occasion. The more details provided, the more people are likely to attend.

Facebook also has functions allowing anyone to view and RSVP to public events, and for users to share invitations with their own Friends lists. For functions not open to the public, a private event option is available allowing invitations to be sent only to specific people, and only people who have received invitations to view the event page.

Steps two through six appear in the February issue of Downtown Promotion Reporter.
