Encouraging Trends for Downtown Despite the Economy
Results of a recent survey of nearly 60 top performing midsized and smaller communities nationwide show positive signs despite the economy.
(Boonton, NJ, January 15, 2010) — "I have witnessed some very encouraging trends," says Dave Ivan of Michigan State University in the January issue of Downtown Idea Exchange.
Ivan has just finished a research project in which he examined nearly 60 top performing midsized and smaller communities nationwide.
His team was struck by the efforts of these communities in several areas, which are hallmarks of success in the new economy. These include: fostering innovation, encouraging entrepreneurship, demonstrating a commitment to green initiatives, establishing regional partnerships, and celebrating diversity.
