Looking ahead to 2006: Downtowns focus on building their brands

(Boonton, NJ, January 3, 2006) — Each year, the industry newsletter Downtown Promotion Reporter takes a look at the state of downtown marketing and promotion for its annual Looking Ahead report.

"One trend that is shaping all the others," notes editor Paul Felt, “is that more downtowns are realizing the fundamental value of developing their brands.”

The path to branding will, of course, vary based on each downtown’s human and financial resources. “But,” notes Felt, “all downtowns must be vigilant about building their brand and setting the tone for all marketing efforts to follow.”

The report provides examples for successful downtown branding from Asbury Park, NJ; Denison, TX; Helena, MT; Texarkana, TX; and other downtowns.

The full report, “Looking ahead to 2006: Downtowns draft a marketing blueprint for their brands,” is available online at the Downtown Promotion Reporter website at http://www.DowntownDevelopment.com/dprsample.php or by phoning the publisher at 1-800-232-4317.
